Play a Part in Preserving the Arts!
The Academy of Performing Arts in Prescott has branched out to reach community support with a new non-profit organization called "The Academy's Performing Arts Association" (APAA).
This organization was created to provide an opportunity for more children to participate in the performing arts through grants and fundraising. It takes between $10,000 and $15,000 to produce a full-scale stage production. Community support is needed if these shows are going to thrive in the heart of Prescott.
Participation in the Performing Arts
Through participation in the Performing Arts, children gain knowledge and self-confidence and learn cooperation, teamwork, professional ettiquette and self-discipline.
Here's what student Bre Rosenlund had to say about her experience in an Academy production: "The Academy strives to make us want to be great at what we love. A performance is not just a performance, it's an event to help us in anything we encounter, strive to be better, never give up, and encourage others…"
J.S. Acker Music Association
The J.S. Acker Music Association was the first to repond to the APAA's call for support. On October 4th, the Academy received a donation of $800 from Acker to support four scholarships awarded in the Academy of Performing Arts production of "West Side Story".
"I'm so excited about the donation from Acker! I knew there were people in our community that were willing to suport the arts and now there are four children in our show who wouldn't have otherwise been able to participate" said Diana Schmelzer, Owner of the Academy of Performing Arts.

The Academy of Performing Arts and Health in Motion Yoga have come together to form a new studio in Chino Valley called "Body Language".
