Academy of Performing Arts Expands to Chino Valley

Effective June 3rd, 2007

The Academy of Performing Arts in Prescott is pleased to announce the expansion of the school. Effective June 3rd, 2007, the Academy will take over operation of the former Arizona Dance Center in Chino Valley.

The ADC name will change to The Academy of Performing Arts–Chino Valley. The location will remain at 392 Butterfield Rd. The studio will close for the month of June for repairs and remodeling.

APA Chino Valley will share many of the same experienced faculty as APA Prescott, and students will have opportunities to participate in all APA events and performances. While APA offers its students the finest instruction in dance, music, voice and theatre, it will offer only dance classes at APA Chino Valley this fall, and add other areas of instruction in the future.

In the three years under the directorship of Diana Schmelzer, APA has produced six full-scale musical productions including: “The Sound of Music”, “The Dancing Princesses”, “Fame”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “World Fusion”, “West Side Story” and is currently in rehearsal for its annual showcase “Heroes,” set to open on June 15th at the Yavapai College Performance Hall.

All ADC students are invited to participate in summer activities at APA Prescott. Fall classes will begin on August 7th at APA Chino Valley.
